It must have been in their 2nd year of middle school, when he realized he was
in love with his best friend. Everyday, the fluttering in his stomach grew worse and
worse. He couldn't tell the other boy that the real reason he had to skip athletic's
day their third year of middle school was because they ended up on the same team,
and he got so nervous, he couldn't keep his breakfast down. He couldn't tell him that
he actually went home and CRIED the first time the other boy admitted that a girl
confessed her love to him. And he CERTAINLY couldn't tell him how he really felt.
All he could do was tease and joke.
They are in their third year of high school, and they are still the best of friends.
However, now the girls are confessing their love to HIM. He turns them all down,
gently, of course. He thanks them for the trouble of visiting their all boy's school,
but he is already involved with someone else. He still gets flutters in his stomach
when he's with the object of his affection, but now he knows his love isn't unrequited.
Even on the days when the flutters get really bad, he has medicine to take. He always
carries it, and a giant bottle of water with him. He is now able to tell his love all those
embarrassing things that bothered him in middle school, and the other always laughs
and says, "Me, too!"
All it took was one bold move, a sudden kiss, and the feelings came out in the open.
They both realized they had felt the same all along. Now, they have their little fights, and
insecurities, but they also know that their love is stronger than to fall to them. After all,
each has been waiting since middle school for this. They'll have their ups and downs, but
as he sits on the couch, cuddling with his lover and best friend, Kazuki realizes he's never
been happier.
